Support matrix

How platforms map to supported routes

Platform support is not a static list of countries. The account’s content region, exit address, playback device and the platform’s current policies all affect the result, so unverified regions are not listed as permanently supported.

Platform Target Region Support Status Recommended Route
Netflix The content region the account needs to access Check against today’s label Choose a route in the same region with a platform support label
Disney+ Content region available to the account Check against today’s label Prioritize streaming routes in the same region
HBO Max Regions where the platform is available Check against today’s label Match the account region first, then compare route stability
Hulu Regions where the platform is available Check against today’s label Choose a platform route clearly labeled in the client
YouTube Premium Region associated with the account and payment details Verify access and subscription separately Keep the exit location consistent during access
Prime Video Account store and content region Check against today’s label The route region should match the account’s content region
BBC iPlayer Regions where the platform is available Check against today’s label Use a streaming route for the corresponding region
Status note: Streaming platforms may change how they identify addresses, so route support can change as well. Check the platform label in the client before connecting; if conditions change, switch to another route in the same region and start a new playback session.

Region model

What does “support” actually change?

The key change is not to the streaming account, but to the network exit the platform sees so it matches the target content region. The content catalog, account details and payment region remain governed by the platform’s own rules.

Exit Location

Platforms usually determine the access region from the exit address. After connecting to a route in the target region, fully close the existing playback page and reopen the app or browser. Simply refreshing the video details page may keep the old session and leave the catalog unchanged.

Content Catalog

The library shown to the same account may differ across content regions. A route affects only the network-side region check; it does not add subscription benefits or change the platform’s limits on age, plan tier or licensing windows.

Account and Payment Details

Some services check the account creation region, app store region or payment details. Even with a matching network exit, inconsistent details may affect subscriptions, renewals or specific content. Troubleshoot access and payment issues separately.

Playback Session

Apps may cache the region result, login token and last exit details. After switching routes, end the background playback process and reopen the app; in a browser, use a new private window to verify the result and avoid interference from old cache.

IP types

The difference between Native IPs and Residential IPs

These terms describe address ownership and network type, not route speed. When choosing a route, check the platform’s identification result first, then assess sustained playback performance.

Address Ownership

Native IP

Usually means the address registration details match the location of the exit. This can reduce cases where the exit location conflicts with the address records, but it does not automatically mean streaming will work. Platforms also consider address history, network type and access behavior.

Useful for first resolving content-region positioning. Choose based on the platform support label in the client, not simply on the word “native.”

Network Type

Residential IP

Usually refers to an exit address with network characteristics closer to local residential broadband. Some platforms may identify this type of network more naturally, but capacity, routing quality and peak-hour performance still need separate evaluation.

Residential characteristics are not a permanent pass. If platform policies change, the same exit may be identified differently, so always consider the route label for the day and test actual playback.

Selection order: Confirm the target content region first, then find a route carrying the corresponding platform label; once the catalog opens normally, test playback start, seeking and picture quality retention. Address type is only one factor.

Playback quality

What kind of route do 4K and Dolby Vision require?

High picture quality depends on sustained usable bandwidth, not a peak shown by a speed test. Platforms use adaptive bitrate, and actual traffic changes with the source, image complexity, audio track and device capabilities.

How to tell whether bandwidth is sufficient

Start continuous playback on the target route and watch whether resolution rises steadily and remains stable. If playback starts normally but quality repeatedly drops, sustained throughput may be insufficient, the route may be jittery, or other local activity may be using the network.

Seeking through the timeline exposes problems more readily than simply waiting. If seeking causes lengthy rebuffering, pause other downloads and cloud sync, then switch to another route in the same region. Do not change the account, device and route at the same time, or it will be difficult to identify the cause.

The route labels shown in the client indicate platform compatibility; actual picture quality also depends on the access network, wireless signal, device decoding capability and platform plan. Treat speed-test results as a reference and judge by sustained playback.

4K

Focus on stable throughput, buffer recovery and long-session playback. A route with a high peak but large fluctuations may feel worse than one with a lower but steadier output.

Dolby Vision

In addition to network conditions, the source, account benefits, playback device, display and app version must all support it. If the picture-quality label is missing, do not immediately attribute it to the route.

Multi-Device Playback

NHVPN supports unlimited devices, but each platform has its own rules for simultaneous playback and account sharing. Multiple devices using the same access network also compete for available local bandwidth.

Error reference

The meaning and handling of common error codes

The same issue may show different codes on TVs, mobile devices and browsers. Rather than memorizing codes, first classify the issue by the wording of the error message.

Region Detection

Message says the proxy, unblocking tool or region is unavailable

This usually means the current exit did not pass the platform’s regional check, or the route’s content region does not match the account’s target region. Disconnect the current route, close the playback app, then reconnect using another route in the same region with a platform label.

Playback Session

The catalog opens, but the video will not start

The catalog and playback request may be using different checks, or an old session may still be cached. Signing out is not the first step: end the app’s background process and reopen it; in a browser, create a new private window and test again.

Network Quality

Repeated buffering, automatic quality drops or interrupted playback

This is usually related to sustained bandwidth, jitter, the local wireless environment or congestion on the access network. Once the platform itself is confirmed accessible, compare routes in the same region; also pause large transfers, cloud sync and system updates to eliminate local bandwidth competition.

Account Details

Subscription, payment or content entitlement does not match

An access route cannot replace the platform’s account-region and payment rules. If the page opens but subscription steps or entitlement checks fail, verify that the account details, payment method and platform availability region align. Do not repeatedly submit the request while switching between multiple exits.

Device Capability

High picture quality or Dolby Vision is not available

Check the source and account benefits first, then verify that the device, display, app and connection method support them. The network route handles transmission and the exit region; it cannot give unsupported hardware the ability to decode a format.

Checklist

Streaming Route Troubleshooting Order

Troubleshoot in a fixed order to avoid changing multiple conditions at once. Observe the result after each step to make the issue easier to isolate.

  1. Confirm the account’s target content region

First identify the region where the content is available, then check whether the account details or app store region match the target. If the platform does not offer the content in that region, changing routes alone cannot add account benefits.

  2. Choose a route in the matching region with a platform label

Do not choose based only on geographic distance. A streaming label in the client indicates that the route has undergone targeted testing and is a suitable first candidate. If several routes are available in the same region, compare actual startup and sustained playback.

  3. Rebuild the app or browser session

After connecting successfully, end the original app’s background process and reopen it. In a browser, create a new private window to avoid old cookies, DNS results and content-region cache affecting the diagnosis.

  4. Verify the catalog first, then test playback

Check whether the target content appears before opening a video. A visible catalog does not guarantee that the playback request will pass; if playback fails, keep the same account and device and change only the route in the same region for a useful comparison.

  5. Check picture quality and stability last

Once playback starts normally, test seeking, continuous playback and quality retention. If only clarity is unstable, investigate bandwidth competition and the wireless environment before repeatedly changing the account region.
